Street Life exhibition at Northampton museum11.49.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 15th Aug 2008 A street life exhibition showcasing the talents of local young people is set to go on display at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday (16 August). A highly acclaimed short film, 'X marks the Spot!', made by young people from Spring Boroughs will be screened as part of the exhibition. The film, which traces the history of Spring Boroughs, reveals some astonishing stories including the fact that a plague burial ground lies beneath the area's Chalk Lane car park. The film will be shown alongside previously unseen remains of Northampton Castle which was located in Spring Boroughs and are now housed at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery. Artworks by young graffiti artists, graphic designers and skateboarders will also be on display at the exhibition, which is supported by CASAPR+NR, Street Law Productionz, local residents and artists, including Lee Burrows and legendary comic book writer Alan Moore.
Councillor Brendan Glynane, Northampton Borough Council Liberal Democrat cabinet member for culture, said: "This will be a great showcase for the talents of our young people and is a brilliant example of the work being done by the town's museum to reach out to people." Street Life will be showing at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery from 16 August until 26 September. Opening times are Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 2pm to 5pm. Admission is free. The young people involved in the exhibition have also created their own profile on YouTube showing video clips of their recent artworks and activities.
