Lib Dems repeat call for Cabinet Member to resign4.47.00pm GMT Fri 14th Dec 2007
At the County Council Meeting on Thursday 13th. December Councillor Richard Church (Lib Dem - Kingsley) called for the resignation of the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services, Councillor Rosemary Bromwich. Cllr. Church in a debate initiated on Services to Older People gave as his reason the report "The Inspection of Services for Older People" by The Commission for Social Care Inspection which shows that the services provided by the County Council have declined. Cllr. Church said: "Last year the Commission inspected "Adult Social Care" of which "Services for Older People" is part. The report last year said the council was "Serving MOST People Well" and the prospects for improvement were "promising." This year the report of Older Peoples Services said the council is only "Serving SOME People Well" and the prospects for improvement were "uncertain." The services have gone from a 3 star rating in 2005, to 2 stars in 2006, and one star in 2007. Under this administration services are moving backwards not forwards. This decline is completely unacceptable for the residents of Northamptonshire and I call on the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Rosemary Bromwich to do the honourable thing and resign. The buck stops with her."
