Pay on Foot and 'shop til you drop'12.51.00pm GMT Mon 26th Nov 2007 Shoppers parking in Northampton will be able to take advantage of 600 more Pay on Foot spaces being created in the town centre from today. Northampton Borough Council is converting St Michael's multi-storey car park to Pay on Foot to put the shopper in the driving seat. Under the Pay on Foot system you only pay as you leave for the amount of time you are parked for, making shopping and leisure in Northampton now even more convenient. Councillor Brendan Glynane, Portfolio Holder for Community Engagement & Safety, said: "We want to make life easy for people to browse the shops, grab a bite to eat and enjoy spending time in the town centre. Why should visitors be limited by the time on the pay and display ticket? Pay on Foot allows visitors to explore the town centre at their leisure with as much time as they need to get everything done, whilst enjoying everything the town centre has to offer. "Pay on Foot will not only offer greater convenience to visitors, but also help us realise our long-term goal to re-invigorate the town centre and bring more visitors and business into the town to enjoy Northampton's retail, culture and leisure offer."
