John Yates, Liberal Democrat County Councillor for Boughton Green says: "With school pools closed at Kingsthorpe Community College and Kingsthorpe Grove School, and no pool at the University, there is a need for swimming facilities in the Kingsthorpe area for children and adults alike and I look forward to seeing a new pool established for both school and community use."

Councillor Yates has been part of a Swimming Pool Review Group set up by the County Council to drive forward the planning of swimming pool provision across Northampton which has recommended working with West Northants Development Corporation, Northampton Borough Council, Sport England, and other partners to identify the funding and the site.
