That's when good neighbours become good friends

Blackthorn neighbours are signing up to be more neighbourly and make their area a better place to live.

People living in Waingrove, Harefield Road and Kirton Close have signed a Good Neighbour Declaration agreeing to be more community spirited, look out for each other and take responsibility for making their area cleaner and safer.

Councillor Sally Beardsworth, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member responsible for housing, said: "It doesn't cost anything to be a good neighbour. We can all watch out for one another and be more considerate. It makes all the difference in a community.

"In turn we promise to continue to take action against anti-social behaviour and work with our partners to look after the estate and bring about a new set of community values."

The Blackthorn Good Neighbour Declaration is the first of its kind in Northampton and it is hoped more will follow.
