Liberal Democrat councillors have been helping local volunteers improve the riverside. Deputy Mayor Brian Markham and Lib Dem councillors have been painting the railings in Beckets Park while volunteers of the 'Helping Hands' project, organised by the Church of Latter Day Saints have been clearing undergrowth, improving paths and providing new information boards on the island in the park.

'Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped make this area a more pleasant place for people to enjoy' said Brain Markham. 'The work of volunteers all over the town needs to be celebrated, and as local councillors it is important that we do our bit to help too.'
