Nick Clegg MP will visit Northampton today to find out about measures to cut crime

Nick Clegg MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, is to meet the Chief Constable of Northampton Police, Peter Maddison, today to discuss the loss of 42 police posts and the proposed merger of forces in the eastern region.

Accompanied by Andrew Simpson, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North, Nick will spend time during the day meeting Councillors and members of the public in the town centre before visiting Spencer After School Club to talk about strategies to tackle youth offending.

Nick will then be interviewed for BBC Radio Northampton's Drive-time programme before meeting local members of the party when he is guest of honour at a fundraising dinner at Cardamon City.

A former Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands region, Nick knows Northampton well having made many visits to the town during his term of office.
