Cllr Trini Crake welcomed the news that Lib Dem councils are some of the greenest

A survey of local authorities carried out by the Guardian newspaper has today revealed that those run by Liberal Democrats are some of the greenest when it comes to taking action to tackle climate change.

Switching to green energy suppliers and installing greener streetlights were just some of the changes that won 10 Liberal Democrat-run authorities, including Bristol, Oxford, Bournemouth and Southampton, a top position in the poll.

Cllr Trini Crake, Shadow Environment Spokesperson on Northampton Borough Council said:

"I am pleased to see so many Liberal Democrat-run councils setting an example by taking action on climate change.

"We are keen to tackle this issue for Northampton too and have already begun a consultation on our ideas for the environment. I only hope we are in a position to put them into practice following May's elections."
