"Don't close or relocate the Everdon Field Studies Centre"say the Lib Dems

Liberal Democrat County Councillors are joining forces with their colleague Cllr. Brian Lomax on Daventry District Council, and with local residents in opposing a proposal from Northamptonshire County Council to close the present Everdon Field Studies Centre and relocate it at Grendon Hall.

At a Northamptonshire County Council Meeting Lib Dem Education Spokesman Cllr. John Yates criticised the Conservatives for proposing to withdraw the funding for the centre.

John says; "If the funding is withdrawn then local residents and users should be given the chance to form a charitable trust to keep the centre open and running at Everdon and that the Council should be supporting that, rather than relocating the centre to another part of the county."

"The facility is valued by the local community who would also want to increase its usage by other groups to make it financially viable. As a charitable trust there would be the opportunity to seek funding from other sources such as English Nature"
