Lib Dems campaign to save Quarry House2.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 16th Jun 2006
Liberal Democrats on Northamptonshire County Council are supporting the campaign against the closure of Quarry House in Duston, Northampton which provides respire care to people with learning disabilities. Leader of the Liberal Democrats on the County Council, Cllr Richard Church said: "It provides an excellent, welcoming and friendly environment for people to stay for a short period, giving some respite from parents and carers who may be elderly or infirm themselves. Its proposed closure is part of a package of Conservative-led cuts in support services for people with learning disabilities and mental health problems in Northamptonshire. Richard Church added: "It is a thoughtless proposal which will lead to more family difficulties and hardships, resulting in more people needing institutional care." The campaigners have set up an excellent e-petition which you can sign online at http://www.petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=2517
