Simon Hughes campaigning in Spencer By-election

Simon Hughes MP

Simon Hughes MP, Liberal Democrat Party President and leadership candidate will be visiting Northampton to help Roger Conroy's campaign to win the Spencer Borough Council by-election.

Roger Conroy said "Simon has represented a deprived area of London for 23 years. I am sure he can give us some great tips on improving things here in Spencer. Labour have ignored the area for years and the Tories are now slashing funding to key projects in the area such as the Out of School Clubs that local people rely on.

"I have been getting fantastic support throughout this by-election. Having Simon Hughes' help is just the boost we need. We can win here. If we do local people will have a strong local voice in the Council."

Tony Woods, Lib Dem Group Leader on Northampton Borough Council said "Simon is a great campaigner. It is very generous of him to make time to visit during his bid to become Party Leader. He will provide a tremendous boost to our campaign to win in Spencer."

After visiting Northampton Simon Hughes will travel to Kirkby-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire for a hustings meeting.
