A local choice for Spencer ward - Roger Conroy

Liberal Democrats in Spencer ward have chosen local resident Roger Conroy as their candidate in the forthcoming Borough Council by-election. The election is due on 9th February and was caused by the resignation of Cllr Paul Concannon.

Roger Conroy lives with his family in Spencer and organises and runs the popular after school club for children called 'The Roundabout Club'. Roger stood as an independent at the County Council elections in May 2005 where he secured a respectable 361 votes. Roger and his family joined the Liberal Democrats in the autumn last year.

"We are delighted to have such a respected and successful community campaigner as our candidate" said Borough Council Group Leader Cllr Tony Woods. "There is a real chance the Lib Dems can win this ward on 9th February as the last by-election in Spencer in January 2004 saw the party com just 58 votes behind Labour".
